On February 2, 2011, the Moscow Government approved a project of the city program "Recreation and tourism industry in the territories of culture and recreation parks, Museum-reserves and Museum-estates for 2012-2016". In connection with the implementation of this program, Sokolniki Park began to work on the reconstruction and improvement. The project of reconstruction and repair of Sokolniki Park proposed renovation and addition of recreation areas and road and trail networks. Zones near ponds, as well as meadows and forest areas have become convenient for recreation and picnics. Coverage of existing paths has been renewed. In addition, a large number of narrow landscape paths for walks in the forest between the trees were built.
